SOCIAL MEDIA VOLUNTEER NEEDED

Wests are looking for a young member to take on a role to support our Club’s Social Media presence.

In today’s digital age, a strong social media presence is crucial for community sports clubs. It’s an excellent way to engage with members, attract new players, and keep everyone informed. But we know that as a volunteer, finding time to manage social media can be challenging.

The Social Media Team partners with the Club Secretary and other key Members to develop and execute digital engagement strategies across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and the club website. They create content calendars, design graphics, and write posts highlighting Club sponsors and supporters, match reports, player profiles, and community events.

They monitor social media channels for member feedback and enquiries, respond promptly to comments and messages, and analyse engagement metrics to refine promotional tactics. Their work amplifies club stories, drives membership growth, and strengthens sponsor visibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation:

  • Develop and curate high-quality, engaging content for the club’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others.
  • Create visually appealing graphics using tools like Photoshop to enhance the club’s social media presence.

Social Media Management:

  • Schedule and post regular updates, match previews, match highlights, and other relevant content across various social media platforms.
  • Monitor and engage with the club’s online community, responding to comments, questions, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging social media platforms to ensure the club’s presence remains relevant.

Community Building:

  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the club’s social media following and fan engagement.
  • Work closely with the club’s marketing and communication team to promote events, news, and match-days.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Passion for baseball and/or sport in general – a deep understanding of the sport would be helpful but not vital
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Experience with basic graphic design and image editing software, especially Photoshop.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity and the ability to think outside the box to engage the club’s audience.
  • A commitment to the club’s mission and values.

Time Commitment: This is a volunteer position, and the Volunteer Social Media Manager is expected to dedicate a flexible number of hours per week.

To apply for this role, please send a CV, along with a short description of why you would suit this role, to our Club Secretary – Secretary@WestsBaseball.com.au

GAME QUALITY FIELD LIGHT PROJECT

The Club has commenced the journey to get game quality LED field lights installed at our top field.

You no doubt have see survey pegs and multi-colour lines marked around the baseball fields.

This work is the preliminary work required for the Club trying to get game quality field lights installed at Wests.

We have partnered with a number of Companies including

  • Jasstech – lighting suppliers
  • Momentum Consulting Group PTY Ltd. – is a trusted Queensland-based advisory consultancy known for unlocking potential and delivering results and will assist the Club in sourcing funds for this project
  • Brisbane City Council

We are looking to install 6 new light poles with LED lighting to Club level game quality at 500 lux intensity for the infield and 300 lux for the outfield.

This project will take some time – maybe even 1 – 3 years so please be patient as sources of funds are not easy with the project costs being upwards of $700,000 – the Club will need to contribute a significant level of funding up to $100,000 so we will be asking you to assist in an increased number of fund raising events over this time period.

IMPORTANT NOTE – Please do not interfere or move any of the survey pegs. IT IS ILLEGAL TO REMOVE SURVEY PEGS

Any questions – please let us know by email.

  • If you know of any organisations that may be in a position to provide any funds for this project; please also let us know.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP GRANTED TO NICHOLAS KREMASTOS

At the recent Club Annual General Meeting, Nicholas Kremastos was granted Life Membership.

Nick has been with the Club since 1997; nearly 30 years; and over that time has become a respected and valued member.

“Mr Reliable” has played for every team within the Club, starting through the junior ranks after coming over to Wests from Redbank as a junior with his younger twin brothers.

He has played and pitched for our Division 1 team and currently plays senior and Masters baseball.

A very humble person, Nick is what “the Bulldog spirit” is all about – fiercely competitiive on the field and fiercely loyal off the field.

Congratulations Nick on a memorable baseball career to date and more to follow.
