In any event, the Club Committee would like to welcome you all to the Club. We are ONE CLUB with lots of different member groups; male and female; young and old; players and supporters, life members and guests; sponsors and backers; Mums and Dads – BUT WE ARE ONE CLUB.
The Club is a very inclusive Club providing pathways for players starting at Teeball (Under 8 years of age) and progressing all the way from Junior teams to Seniors and Masters baseball playing with a mens team, a mixed gender team or a women’s team.
Regrettably this event has been POSTPONED by the Club Committee due to the anticipated spike in positive cases of COVID-19 over the next few weeks.

At the latest GBL Competition Committee meeting, the matter of the latest COVID 19 infections was discussed and it was agreed that the GBL Competition Committee is able to provide flexibility to those Clubs and teams that may not be able to field a team due to players being required under Queensland Health requirements (refer to the following link – https://www.qld.gov.au/health/conditions/health-alerts/coronavirus-covid-19/current-status/public-health-directions/confirmed-cases-and-close-contacts ), if you are diagnosed with COVID-19, you must immediately isolate for 7 days at your private home and thus preventing a player from playing in a game. This applies to any team that has three or more players that have been diagnosed with COVID-19 – and evidence of the diagnosis must be provided – details as follows:-
i. To all GBL Clubs,
ii. In relation to the increase in COVID 19 Cases, the GBL Committee have added an addition to rule 3.3.1
1. If a team has at least three (3) COVID 19 Positive Cases/Players in isolation, a club can apply to the GBL Committee in writing via email for the game to be rescheduled to a later date.
2. Clubs need to provide evidence of players in isolation/testing positive for the application to be approved. (Evidence to be provided is either a Medical Certificate/Statutory Declaration/Positive Test Results and provided within 7 days of the application)
3. The three (3) days’ notice in 3.3.1 will not be enforced if due to COVID 19 /Isolations.
4. The decision to reschedule the game will be made by the GBL Committee, not by the clubs involved.
5. Rule 3.3.2 is not relevant to this new ruling.
6. All information and applications are to be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org to be compiled
iii. In addition to the above rule change, Rule 5.7.9 will be changed with rising COVID 19 Cases:
1. No player may play more than two (2) GAMES in the same day.
2. No player may play more than two (2) GRADES in the same day – this will allow for example, Division 2 players to participate at some stage in both games of a Division 1 double header.
Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Western Districts Baseball Club’s creation – you’ve got a unique opportunity to recognise the moment with your own piece of history.
We are marking the occasion with the release of this Western Districts Baseball Club 60th Year Anniversary Polo Shirt and we expect they won’t last long with players past and present will be quick to grab one.
Strictly limited to only 60 shirts – and only in the size quantities listed below – once they are gone, they will never be available again! So read on and act quickly to secure yours today (including the important note at the end).
The 60 polo shirts are made up of these sizes:
These shirts are also a fundraiser for the Club. Each shirt is $60 with proceeds used to further develop the facilities at Atthow’s Park, Darra for current and future players at Wests Baseball.
These stylish polo shirts were personally designed by our current Club President; Mark Coogan, son of the original Club President; Kevin (Danny) Coogan. They feature several elements to acknowledge the long history of the Club and all the players who have proudly represented the Bulldogs and worn our colours on the diamond.
In 1961, a merger of Souths Baseball Club and Victory Baseball Club created Victory Souths Baseball Club. The polo shirt features the original Victory Souths entwined VS letters on the Right Sleeve.
In 1970 the club changed its name to Western Districts Baseball Club and adopted the Curly W that we still use today, so the W appears on the Left Sleeve.
The current Wests Baseball Logo is on the chest with the addition of EST. 1961 to mark the 60th Anniversary.
The Blue and White colours of the polo shirt were selected to represent our playing colours over the years and the subtle Pinstripe design helps create a Sky-Blue section where the colours merge. Both the Pinstripe and Sky-Blue have been used in Playing Jerseys over the years – and both are used today by our Division 1 Senior Men’s Team.
Blackchrome, our club’s uniform partner has manufactured these limited-edition polo shirts and stock arrived just prior to Christmas, so they will be available to collect from the Club from next week OR at the 60 Year Anniversary Celebration on Sunday, 30 January. Postage will be available separately on request and at an additional cost.
If you have a Club Polo shirt already, they are the same cut and size – so you can order with confidence with regards to sizing.
IMPORTANT NOTE: With these strictly limited quantities available, you can only buy one shirt – multiple orders will all be cancelled and payments refunded – and the ordered shirts will be made available to others… so please make sure you don’t get greedy and break that rule.
