FIELD 1 IMPROVEMENTS COMPLETED

Today we received delivery of a second hand Toro Sidewinder ride on cylinder mower. This is a complicated piece of machinery and no-one is permitted to drive this machine without proper lessons. Mistakes using this machinery costs thousands of dollars in repair costs.

Today Shawn Hunter, Nick Kremastos, Rod Gaunt – supervised by Cooper Thomson – removed all of the grass lips on field 1 which rendered the field perfectly flat.

We removed over 8 trailer loads of grass and gravel that was removed from the grass lipusing a scarifier.

It is now imperative that all members ensure when repairing the field, you do not sweep gravel into/onto the grass – lift up the rubber mats before reaching the grass.

Cooper Thomson then mowed the field twice with the Toro mower. The results are astonishing – see the photos. While the cut grass is brown at the moment with a bit of water it will green up beautifully within a month or so and you will be fielding baseballs on a billiard table surface.

You can see the difference in the grass height for the infield compared to what it is on the foul section of the field – see above photo.
